Join MFU for a Water Quality and Healthy Soils Field Day in Oronoco! We will start the day at 9:00 am at Peoples Energy Cooperative. There we will hear from numerous local experts about soil health and cover crops. After a noon lunch, we will head to Rod Sommerfields farm for an afternoon tour. Refreshments and lunch are included and Field Day is free to attend.

9:45 – 10:15 MN Ag Water Quality Certification Program Matt Wohlman, Deputy Commissioner, MDA
10:15 – 10:45 Governor Dayton’s 25 by 25 Water Quality Initiative, Anna Henderson, Office of Governor Mark Dayton
10:45 – 11:30 Forever Green Initiative (covering development of perennial and cover cropping systems)
11:30 – 12 p.m. Lunch
12 p.m. - 12:15 Travel time to Sommerfield farm (433rd avenue, 3.4 miles south of Mazeppa on Wabasha co road 1 or 3.8 miles north of Oronoco on Olmstead co road 18/ Wabasha co rd 1) MFU will have transportation available to and from event, or participants may drive on their own.
12:15 - 2 p.m. Tour of fields and water retention ponds at Sommerfield farm.
