The Minnesotans attending were: Cedric Ford, son of Gemma Pillai of Shakopee; Mitchell Farmer-Lies, son of Tim Lies and Kathy Farmer of Belle Plaine; Alex Chuma, son of Esther Chuma of Shakopee; Nathan Magnell, son of Dennis and Denise Magnell of Gully; Cheyenne Corbett, daughter of Laura Corbett of Nicollet; Erin McLaughlin, daughter of Fran and Kathy McLaughlin of Maple Grove; Jennifer Roberts, daughter of Robin and Carla Roberts of Montevideo; and Jacob Hanson-Flores, son of Glen Hanson and Lourdes Flores of Woodbury.
“These youth have shown superior leadership skills while attending Minnesota Farmers Union leadership camp, and were rewarded with a trip to All-States Camp where they built on those skills, and were further educated” said Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union President. “Minnesota was proud to have these youth at All-States Camp representing Minnesota’s family farmers, and I look forward to working with them in the future as we continue the fight for a prosperous rural Minnesota.”
The Minnesotans attending the All-States Leadership Camp are youths who have completed four years of Minnesota’s Senior High Camp and have shown dedication to working in a cooperative manner with a commitment to bettering themselves through education and leadership.
The youths spent a week in Bailey, Colorado June 24-29 at the NFU Education Center to take part in cooperative activities and listen to several inspirational speakers. The camp included presentations by William Nelson, president of CHS Foundation, who spoke about cooperatives; motivational speaker and Olympic Grecco Roman Wrestling Champion Rulon Gardner; and members of the Center for Disease Control, who spoke about how to handle outbreaks.
