MFU to hold golf benefit for Lake Sarah
St. Paul (June 14, 2012) – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) Foundation is having their 5th annual golf benefit for Lake Sarah and Farmers Union youth programs. The golf benefit will be at Oak Lake golf course in Erskine on July 19 at 12:30 p.m. This year, golfers will also have an opportunity to see what their generous donations have been used for at an open house at Lake Sarah.
“This golf benefit has helped Minnesota Farmers Union Foundation improve member and youth education efforts as well as providing improvements to the Lake Sarah educational campground,” said Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union President. “Lake Sarah is a Farmers Union treasure and a place where thousands of kids have learned about agriculture and cooperatives, made lasting friendships, and life-long memories at our leadership camp. I thank everyone for their contributions, and look forward to our continued partnership.”
Start time for the two-person scramble is 12:30 p.m. with a cost of $35 for 9 holes and $45 for 18 holes; fees also include a meal at the Lake Sarah campground. Prizes will be awarded with proceeds going toward Farmers Union youth camps and activities at Lake Sarah. Non-golfers can purchase dinner for $15, and child care is available.

St. Paul (June 28, 2011) – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) and Farmers Union Agency are having their 4th annual golf benefit for Lake Sarah youth camp on Thursday, July 28 at the Sandhill Golf Course in Fertile, Minnesota.
“Minnesota Farmers Union has a wonderful leadership camp on Lake Sarah in Erskine where youth develop self esteem, team building and leadership skills in a healthy camp setting. We are pleased to announce our annual golf benefit to support agriculture education,” said Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union President. “Lake Sarah is also used for campsites throughout the summer and all who use this beautiful facility appreciate the support and generosity of the contributors who help continue this tradition.”
Start time for the golf benefit is 1:30 p.m. and costs $35 for nine holes and $45 for eighteen holes, which includes a buffet supper at the Sandhill Supper Club in Fertile. Non-golfers can purchase dinner for $15. A variety of prizes will be awarded during dinner.

Golf benefit for Lake Sarah youth camp to be held in Mahnomen
St. Paul (June 2, 2010) - Minnesota Farmers Union and Farmers Union Agency are having their 3rd annual golf benefit for Lake Sarah youth camp on Wednesday, June 23 at the Mahnomen Country Club Golf Course.
"We have a beautiful campground that we use for youth education and leadership camp on Lake Sarah, and there are some renovations that need to be done," said Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union President. "The last couple years this golf benefit has helped us raise money for the camp ground at Lake Sarah. Farmers Union and our campers appreciate the past support and continued generosity in raising money for agricultural education and leadership at Lake Sarah."
Registration is from 1 p.m.-2 p.m., with a shotgun start of 2:15 p.m. There will be a break for dinner and prizes from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m., with a second nine holes beginning at 6:15 p.m. You can golf nine or eighteen holes for $30 or $40 respectively. Dinner is included with golf, however, you can purchase dinner for $15 if you choose to not golf.
