STAPLES, Minn. – A Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for Farmers Union Processing + Meats is 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at the processing plant, 901 Prairie Ave. N.W., Staples.

Farmers Union Processing + Meats is a more than 10,000-square-foot meat processing facility that slaughters cattle, hogs and sheep. The plant offers custom-exempt and USDA inspected processing.

The plant grew from a need identified by livestock producers. The plant took several years to come to fruition and brought together several partners, including:

• Agricultural Utilization Research Institute
