Farmers Union honors Swift County ag leader
ST. PAUL – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) honored Swift County Farmers Union President Jim Falk with a Distinguished County Leader award during a Nov. 23 awards program.
Falk always steps up to lead in Farmers Union, from attending the National Farmers Union Fly-in to hosting legislative and renewable energy events in Swift County.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by Minnesota Farmers Union with this award,” Falk said. “MFU has a rich history of standing up for family farmers and rural communities. For many years, I’ve been engaged in supporting and promoting the MFU policy, including testifying before the Minnesota legislature on several policy issues.”
“I am honored to recognize Jim for his leadership,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “Jim is a steadfast leader and one of the main reasons Minnesota has a grain indemnity fund. Jim didn’t give up on the idea of an indemnity fund, working for years to put this safety net in place for the state’s farmers. He is always looking for ways to make family farm agriculture more sustainable and profitable.”
The 83rd annual Minnesota Farmers Union State Convention was Friday through today at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast, Minneapolis.
