Farmers Union is rooted in your communities. The policy process starts at county conventions, where individuals bring forth resolutions, which are debated at the conventions. Resolutions then move through the state and national level and become the policy that members and staff advocate for with elected policymakers.
Family Farmers Matter - We Advocate for You
National Farmers Union is working to ensure America’s family farmers are heard by those in positions to force change.
Through the Fairness for Farmers campaign, NFU advocates for fair agriculture markets and supports specific policy actions including:
- Reforming the Packers and Stockyards Act (PSA)
- Improving price discovery in cattle markets
- Allowing for the Right to Repair equipment
- Diversifying marketing opportunities and antitrust enforcement
Minnesota Farmers Union is the legislative voice for family farmers, ranchers and rural residents in St. Paul and Washington, D.C. Our comprehensive policy is developed by the grassroots efforts of our members, culminating with policy debate at the annual MFU conventions which sets our priorities for each year. During Minnesota’s legislative sessions, the MFU Government Relations team is at the Capitol each day working with legislators on behalf of our members.
