MFU summer camps start next week

ST. PAUL – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) staff are busy preparing for the 81st season of MFU summer youth leadership camps.

Minnesota Farmers Union offers four camps over the summer:

  • Northern camp for ages 9 through 12 from June 17 to 21 at MFU’s Lake Sarah Campground near Erskine.
  • Southern elementary camp for ages 8 through 11 at Sibley State Park near New London from July 14 to 17.
  • Southern junior camp for ages 11 through 14 at Sibley State Park from July 21 to 25.
  • Senior high camp for ages 14 to 18 at Sibley State Park from July 28 to Aug. 2.

“Our Farmers Union camp is all about helping young people become good citizens by planting the seeds of responsibility, leadership and cooperation in an environment where those qualities can grow and flourish,” said MFU Education Director Winona Anderson. “But camp isn’t only about education. It’s also about providing a safe environment where campers can hang out, be kids and have fun.”

Camp tuition is affordable thanks to the support of the MFU Foundation, the CHS Foundation 2024 Cooperative Education Grants Program and Minnesota Corn.

“MFU appreciates the support of the CHS Foundation 2024 Cooperative Education Grants Program and Minnesota Corn,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “Camp is a special season for many young people, and it is gifts from CHS Foundation, Minnesota Corn and others who make it possible. Cooperatively, we are educating the next generation of leaders who will feed, clothe and fuel our nation.”
