Carol Anderson honored for service to rural communities
ST. PAUL – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) honored Carol Anderson with the Service to Rural Communities award during a Nov. 22 awards program.
Anderson has been the executive director of Community Development of Morrison County for more than 30 years. She is chair of the MFU Executive Committee. Anderson serves on the Rural Finance Authority Board and the Governor’s Workforce Development Board. She and her husband, Steve, farm in Benton County.

MFU President Gary Wertish presents a Service to Rural Communities award to Carol Anderson of Benton County.
“Carol grew up in a Farmers Union family and cares deeply about rural Minnesota,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “In her role with Community Development of Morrison County, she has worked to attract and retain employers in rural Minnesota and to develop systems to support employees. She has been instrumental in the Minnesota Farmers Union work to rebuild local meat processing infrastructure, including development of Farmers Processing + Meats in Staples. She is an invaluable member of our state executive committee, and I value her counsel.”
“I am very honored to receive this award from Minnesota Farmers Union,” Anderson said. “It’s so rewarding for me to bring the skills I have to Farmers Union to build upon those who came before me in the organization. Together we are taking Minnesota Farmers Union to the next level.”
The 84th annual Minnesota Farmers Union State Convention was Nov. 21-23 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast, Minneapolis.
