Webinar for farmers with less than 15 acres
What: Webinar: Learn how farmers on small acreages can apply for ag homestead in 2026
When: Noon to 1 p.m., Dec. 8
What: Earlier this year, lawmakers passed a law that will make it easier for farmers residing on less than 15 contiguous acres to qualify for the agricultural classification and potentially agricultural homestead. Agricultural Homestead is a state policy that keeps farmland affordable for farmers who live on the land they work. New in 2026, and through the advocacy of MFU members, farmers residing on less than 15 acres can qualify for agricultural homestead if they gross at least $20,000 selling into local markets as demonstrated on their Schedule F farm taxes. Tax law is complicated, and this change is new. Join us for an hour-long webinar to learn from the Minnesota Department of Revenue, a Farm Business Management Specialist, and others about how this could benefit your farm.
