Food Safety Course for Produce Farms in Fargo-Moorhead

In-Person Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and Farmer/Buyer Networking

This food safety session will provide fruit and vegetable growers with science-based, farm-level practices for keeping fresh produce safe. You will start a food safety plan and leave with an understanding of how GAPs can protect your farm and your customers. This course will help you prepare to pass a GAP audit if you seek one for your farm. . All training courses are led by Extension staff, experienced farmer trainers, and partner organizations. All trainings offer a certificate of completion, which is accepted as documentation of food safety training for the Produce Safety Mini Grant which will be available in Feb 2023 from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

Agenda

  • 10:00 am – 2:00 pm: GAPs training (for fruit and vegetable producers) (lunch included)
  • 2:15 pm – 3:15 pm: Farmer/ buyer networking (for both farmers and buyers)

Cost:

$15 per farm, includes lunch, certificate of attendance and a small gift bag of various cleaning supplies for all participants. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of this course. Please email jenri001@umn.edu. One participant at each training will win a set of handwashing stand supplies!
