Farmers Union endorses Craig’s bid to be Ranking Member
ST. PAUL – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) today sent a letter of support to Congresswoman Angie Craig, D-Minn., who is running to be the top Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee.
Craig, 52, represents Minnesota 2nd congressional district. She won re-election in November by 13 points.
“Since you arrived in Washington you have been steadfast in your support of family farmers,” MFU President Gary Wertish wrote in his letter of support. “Today, we are honored by your interest in deepening this important work as your caucus’ lead on agriculture.”
Wertish cites Craig’s work on renewable fuels, rural development and building more resilient supply chains in the letter of support.
“As many farmers struggle with input costs, the aftermath of severe weather, and uncertainty about trading relationships abroad, it will be meaningful to have the leadership of someone with a proven track record of bringing people together around bipartisan solutions,” Wertish wrote. “That will be key to delivering the next Farm Bill and for making sure that Congress is responsive to the needs and perspectives of family farmers, ranchers and rural communities.”
