Franklin Turnock honored as Distinguished County Leader
ST. PAUL – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) honored Franklin Turnock with a Distinguished County Leader award during a Nov. 22 awards program.
Turnock and his wife, Darlene, live in Aitkin County, where he serves as the county Farmers Union president. Turnock’s parents started a Farmers Union chapter in the 1950s and he grew up in the organization. He participated in the summer camps and now enjoys attending Lobby Days to meet with legislators and discuss issues important to agriculture.

MFU President Gary Wertish presented Franklin Turnock with a Distinguished County Officer award.
“Franklin is a great asset to Minnesota Farmers Union,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “He brings a positive attitude and research to events and is willing to share his knowledge with less experienced members. Thank you, Franklin, for being a member and for showing up for family farmers.”
“It’s been an honor to be a member of Minnesota Farmers Union for the last 70 years,” Turnock said. “Farmers Union is the strongest farm organization supporting and fighting for the family farm.”
The 84th annual Minnesota Farmers Union State Convention was Nov. 21-23 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast, Minneapolis.
