Meat Processing Facility in Staples

MFU plans to build a new meat processing facility in the industrial park in Staples, Minn. Land has been purchased and the project is in the design phase. This plant will utilize funds from an EDA grant to purchase a USDA compliant modular meat processing system and will be enclosed in a building for year-round processing. The goal is to have this plant up and running by January 2025.

The main focus of this facility will be to process beef, pork, lamb and goats for farmers in a region that does not have a USDA facility in close proximity to their farms.
