MFU recognizes young leaders at state convention

ST. PAUL –Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) recognized three Torchbearers at its 84th annual state convention.

Anton Bennett of Ramsey County, Abigail Gatzke of Hennepin County and Carly Sayre of Carver County were recognized with the Torchbearer award, the highest award given to youth leaders in Farmers Union at the annual banquet on Nov. 22.

Farmers Union also recognized its Youth Advisory Council members:

  • Carrie Thomas of Washington County
  • Brooklynn Johnson, Mitchell Pelzer and Vance Ethen of Ramsey County
  • Zander Stone and Reese Stone of Kandiyohi County
  • Angel McCoy of Hennepin County
  • Kalleigh Wertish of Renville County

Youth Advisory Council members are young leaders who help plan Farmers Union summer camps and other youth activities.

“We are proud to recognize our young leaders at convention,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “Several of our Torchbearers have went on to be county leaders in our organization and we value their contribution to Minnesota Farmers Union.”

The MFU State Convention was held Nov. 21-23 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast, Minneapolis.
