MFU to host annual convention Nov. 22-24

ST. PAUL – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) members from across the state will gather Nov. 22-24 for the 83rd annual Minnesota Farmers Union State Convention. The convention will be held at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast, 1330 Industrial Blvd. N.E., Minneapolis.

The event begins on Friday afternoon with panel discussions. The discussions focus on food regulations surrounding selling products direct from the farm, finding funding for projects on your farm and what weather trends mean for farmers. On Saturday and Sunday, members debate the organization’s policy. The policy guides the organization’s advocacy work for the coming year.

“I look forward to welcoming members to our 2025 convention,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “The state convention is our grassroots process in action as members debate policy that is adjusted annually based on resolutions from county organizations.

“This year, our convention speakers will have an anti-monopoly theme, with Fordham University Law Professor Zephyr Teachout and Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter addressing members and guests on Saturday,” Wertish said. “National Farmers Union President Rob Larew will also join us on Saturday evening.”

There is no charge to attend the convention, but meals are ticketed events. A tentative convention agenda can be found on the Minnesota Farmers Union website.
