ST. PAUL – Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) and Farmers Union Agency (FUA), a full-service insurance agency fully owned by MFU, invite you to visit them at Farmfest.

MFU and FUA staff and Agents will be at Farmfest, Aug. 2-4, in lot 509, a blue hoop building just west of the Wick Buildings Farmfest Center. Farmfest is held at Gilfillan Estate near Morgan, Minn.

Farmers Union’s Fairness for Farmers campaign will take center stage at the MFU hoop building. The campaign, launched last fall, aims to raise awareness of the need to strengthen antitrust laws in the United States and create a more competitive marketplace for family farmers. MFU will unveil The Trustbuster, a one-of-a-kind Polaris Ranger 1000 designed to highlight the Fairness for Farmers campaign, at the event.

“I’m looking forward to sharing the Fairness for Farmers campaign with people visiting Farmfest,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “Farmers Union was founded by farmers who sought fair prices for their products and the Fairness for Farmers campaign continues to amplify that message more than 100 years later. The issue remains much the same: Family farmers need a fair price for their products.”

Minnesota Farmers Union, in conjunction with the Minnesota Corn Growers Association, also welcomes Pizzeria201 to Farmfest this year. Wood-fired pizza, desserts and snacks will be available Aug. 2 and 3 from Pizzeria201, which is located next to the MFU hoop barn.

This year’s forum schedule in the Wick Buildings Farmfest Center includes candidate forums for the open 1^st District congressional seat, as well as a forum featuring candidates from the second, sixth, seventh and eighth districts on Aug. 2. DFL Gov. Tim Walz and Republican-endorsed Dr. Scott Jensen will take questions from rural leaders at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 3 in the Farmfest center. National Farmers Union President Rob Larew will join the panel at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 2 for a farm bill policy discussion. On Aug. 4, the Woman Farmer of the Year Award will be announced. MFU member Dawn Breitkruetz is one of the five finalists.
